Chief Startup Officer & Executive Director of RAIN Eugene Accelerator
Joe co-founded his first company, BraveTree, in 2001. BraveTree was a video game studio that developed multi-player games for the web and the original XBox console. GarageGames acquired BraveTree in 2005, and Joe joined their executive team managing games, core web technology and the IP division. GarageGames was acquired by IAC in 2007. Joe helped IAC manage their acquisition through 2009.
From 2009 – present, Joe advised many early and growth stage companies in fields as diverse as communications, health and safety, education, and biotech. He works directly with entrepreneurs on their business plans and products. He is a mentor at Portland-based accelerator PIEPDX, and is a founder and board member of the FertiLab Thinkubator, a privately funded biotech incubator and co-working space.
Joe is excited to have been selected as Chief Startup Officer and Director of the RAIN Eugene Accelerator, a program that works with high-tech entrepreneurs and university researchers to launch start ups. RAIN (the Regional Accelerator and Innovation Network) is a government-funded initiative to invest in the creation of high-growth, technology companies in Oregon and accelerate the state’s transition from a resource-based to a knowledge-based economy.
